A Chromebook uses Google Chrome as it's software. It doesn't have all the other software and operating systems to slow it down. A Chromebook will be ready to use in seconds and the battery is good for 9-11 hours. Also a Chromebook looks like a small laptop. We purchased the 11" size so it would be easy for the students to carry to the room and back.
Depending on how these work, we hope to be able to purchase more. The aging laptops that the Middle School students are using are dying one by one. Chromebooks are cheaper to purchase and should have a life-span like a laptop. Replacing technology is an ongoing expenditure that needs to be made in order to meet the demands of today's classroom.
A Chromebook costs approximately $230 which includes the management license. We really need a set of books (30) and a cart for each grade in Middle School. That is 120 books and 2 more carts. Any donations towards this fund would be greatly appreciated.
