The 8th Grade Computer Class has been learning how to use Google Docs. They are currently working on two projects. Their first project taught them all the parts of Google Docs. They made a survey, shared the survey, and took others surveys. Once all surveys were completed they charted their results and put them in a presentation. They will be presenting their results in computer class the week of March 3.
The students have also been working on their current event that is due on Feb. 28th. They have been learning how to do a current event in Google Docs. This allows them to turn in their current event through a shared folder to Ms. Hansen. Doing it this way does not require any paper and their is nothing to be printed. All 8th grade should have their current event turned in by Friday, Feb. 28th.
Google Docs allows the students to work from any computer that has Internet. Their material is automatically saved so they do not need a flash drive for their material. Their material can be shared with the St. Peter Teachers so they can turn in documents without having to print. Google Docs does not have all the abilities of Microsoft Office but it is free and available to anyone with a g-mail address. A lot of Educational Institutions are moving to this because it is free and easy to use. Currently our 7th and 8th graders have the ability to use this. As we become more familiar with all of its uses more students will be using it.
